- Open with a precise detail (day, place, number of stands) to set the scene.
- Use the passé composé for what you did and the imparfait for the atmosphere.

Last Sunday, I went to my neighbourhood's Christmas market, set up on the church square. About thirty craftspeople were offering candles, jewellery and homemade cakes. I bought a hot chocolate to warm my hands and listened to a children's choir in front of a big illuminated fir tree. The atmosphere was truly warm despite the cold. In my opinion, this type of market is very useful for small shopkeepers. They can present their products to new customers without paying high rent, and residents discover original gifts that they cannot find in large shopping centres. Moreover, the money spent stays in the neighbourhood. I therefore suggest that the town hall also organise a market in the spring, in order to support the local economy all year round.
