Last month, I crossed four countries by train, from Paris to Vienna. My favourite moment was the crossing of the Alps: for two hours, I looked out of the window at snow-covered mountains and little villages lost in the valley. An old gentleman sitting next to me even explained the names of the peaks to me. In my opinion, the train is the best way to discover a continent. First, you really see the landscapes, whereas on a plane you only see clouds. Then, it is more comfortable: you can walk, read or chat with other travellers. Finally, it is a more ecological choice. Admittedly, tickets are sometimes expensive and connections complicated. However, I recommend this experience to everyone who is not in a hurry to arrive.
