  • Situate your city first (dans le nord, au bord de la mer, à une heure de...) so the examiner can picture it.
  • Describe with the present and the imparfait for the past (avant, il y avait peu de magasins), then give your opinion.
  • Mention both advantages and one drawback (le bruit, la circulation) to sound balanced and natural.

English

I live in a medium-sized city, about an hour from the capital. My neighborhood is rather quiet, but very practical: there is a supermarket, a pharmacy and a bus stop five minutes away on foot. Across from my home there is a small park where I often go for a walk in the evening. The downtown area is livelier, with lots of cafés and shops. What I appreciate is that everything is close. On the other hand, on weekends there are sometimes too many people and parking is difficult. Before, there were fewer shops, but the city has changed a lot. Anyway, I feel good there.
